Little brother,

Several weeks ago I received the news of my eventuality. I’ve been trying to find the right words to write. I know these past few years haven’t been that easy on you. I know I haven’t been there for you. But listen, you’re gonna be okay. You’ve got to be strong now. For Mom and Sis. They need you. You’re now the man of the house. I’m proud of you and what you have become. You’ve become someone who I admire. There hasn’t been so many easy roads we’ve had to travel in the last six years, with Dad dyin and all. You know, I constantly think about when dad would take us driving in his truck down those hilly country roads and you’d be sitting in between him and I singing along to Van Morrison, or something like that, while the sun set. We never had a destination. We just would ride while Dad drove us. My favorite part about that was how simple life was. Remember how he’d point out all the wildlife we’d see? Remember that one buck we saw? I think sometimes that was a reflection of what you’re going to become. Powerful. Respected. Honored. There will be times when you’re gonna want to throw in the towel, but my little brother, that’s when you gotta be strong. Believe in the fact there are some of us here to teach hard lessons for the better of others. I know you can realize what they are. Tomorrow will be a new day for you. Embrace it and take it to the bank. The time is now to become the man our family will be proud of. Behind the shed, directly under the centered window buried a foot down I left you something. I’m so sorry for letting you down. I love you. And again, I’m so very proud of you.

This is not the end…

…to the moon.

Post Script: You best ask Sally Mae out. She likes you.
